YouTube App “Connection to Server Lost” Error
Some Android systems have this error when trying to play videos from YouTube App while playing on youtube.com is just fine. This is an Android system issue which cannot be solved by device manufacturers. A quick fix is to install an earlier version, i.e. YouTube App version 4.5.17, which is available on the support page of ValueChainUSA.com.
Note: To prevent the YouTube app from updating itself, open Google Play Store and go to setting by clicking on the menu button by the Google search bar. Then choose "Do not auto-update apps" under "Auto-update apps".

How to use an external Ethernet adapter with an Android tablet?

Uncheck wifi in tablet's network settings. Connect the included OTG cable to the usb port on the tablet. Then connect the Ethernet adapter to the other end of the OTG cable. If DHCP on your router is not enabled, go to setup -> Ethernet setup -> IP setup and set gateway and a static IP.

The ValuePad VP112 I bought is supposed to have a RK3168 CPU with Cortex A9 technology. However, it was shown as Cortex A8 in the Antutu software. What happened?

RK3168 is a relatively new system that some software does not recognize. Antutu, and some other software may report it as a Cortex A8 because this is the closest in their database. Antutu should also show that this is a dual core CPU. Cortex A8 is specifically designed for single core CPUs. So rest assured that the CPU in VP112 is RK3168, a dual core CPU based on the newest Cortex A9 technology.

The drive representing my tablet cannot be seen or opened when connected to a computer. How to fix it?

Connect the tablet to a computer using original USB cable. Uncheck “USB debugging” in Settings -> Developer options. A USB symbol will show up at the lower right corner. Hold that symbol and lift up. Choose "connect USB devices".

Why is the USB keyboard not responding when connected to the tablet?

The USB keyboard needs to be connected to the tablet before turning on the tablet.

My tablet has an 8GB drive. Why can I only see 6GB or less usable capacity?

By default, hard drive manufacturers consider 1000MB as 1GB while computer manufacturers think 1024MB is 1GB. So an 8GB drive would be 7.4G in a computer. In addition, Android systems would consume up to 1GB space and system backup could be another 800MB. So the usable capacity on an 8GB drive could be between 5.5GB and 6GB.

Does this tablet have a built-in microphone?

Yes, all ValuePad tablets have built-in microphones for online chatting.

Can I charge the tablet by connecting it to a computer using a USB cable?

Yes, you can. However it is not the best charging method in terms of battery life. Furthermore, computer USB ports typically provide much lower amperage than wall plugs so that charging time would be significantly longer.

Why is my tablet running slower and slower? And it freezes up more frequently.

The tablet achieves best performance when its drive has enough space. It is recommended to use a MicroSD (also known as TF) card and install apps on it whenever possible. Installed apps can be moved to SD card by following these steps: Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> select an app -> Move to SD Card. Some software can move apps in Android systems as well.

Why does my tablet get warm sometimes?

ValuePad tablets use fast CPUs that typically run at 1GHz or faster. These CPUs generate some heat, especially when you play 3D games or HD (720P +) movies. Surface temperature could be as high as 110˚F. This is normal. We recommend you let the tablet take a break whenever you do.

I have an VP112-IPS. Where is the “Reset” button?
A “reset” button is typically used to unlock or “unfreeze” a locked tablet which is not responsive due to incompatible apps or settings. On this VP112-IPS tablet, the function of the “Reset” button is built into the “Power” button. Long pressing the “Power” button would unlock the tablet or turn it completely off when the tablet is frozen.

The screen protector has some minor scratches. Is this a used tablet?

Unless it is a refurbished sale or a replacement unit for warranty repairs, all units sold by ValueChain are BRAND NEW. For most models, we take that extra step and pre-install screen protectors for our customers because it is extremely tricky to not leave air bubbles between the touch screen and screen protector. It is inevitable for operators to touch the screen protector when they put it on. Please contact us and request a replacement screen protector if your screen protector is severely scratched. In most cases our customers choose to keep the original scratched screen protectors because they actually look and work better than those self-installed!

Why Is The Storage Partitioned as Internal Storage and Internal SD Card?

The main reason to do so is security. Users and most importantly other apps, shouldn’t be allowed to peek in other app sensitive data and system files and thus a separate partition is used in the internal storage with proper permission setup. There is a proper permission setup that apps have to go through before reading or writing in the Internal Storage. The other part, Internal SD Card discards all permission checking and behaves like a FAT area similar to a SD card (although it’s not based on FAT file system).

Battery Tips

• Charge the tablet for 8 hours before using it for the first time. Don’t trust on-screen battery %.
• Best charging practice: Charge the tablet frequently when the battery is between 20% and 80% to maximize battery life. Lithium batteries don’t have “memory” effect. It is recommended to stop charging before the battery reaches 100%.
• Completely draining the battery can irreversibly damage it. Avoid using the tablet on battery when it is below 20%. Avoid keeping the battery low for overnight or longer.
• Charge the tablets once every two weeks and keep them off when not in use for a long period of time to avoid permanent damages to the batteries.

Downloading Apps From Google Play Store For The First Time Can Be Slow

Expect the tablet to lag after logging into Google Play Store the first time when the tablet downloads system and Google apps. Restart Google Play Store if the first download doesn’t finish within an hour.
Most times when download of user’s apps have been requested, the tablet would choose to download “more important” apps before the download of user’s apps can be started. If the tablet seems to freeze when it is downloading in background, let it run for one hour and close Google Play Store in active apps list. Some apps, such as Netflix, would require other system apps, such as Google Play Services, be installed before it can be run properly.
